Bad Mommy

I can't believe that it has been *slapping my hand repeatedly* 4 months since I have posted about Vi. It's unbelievable because there really is so much to share since she is so active and keeps us laughing all of the time! The biggest news is that Vi had a birthday on September 10th. She is 3 years old! Her favorite part of her birthday was the Scooby-Doo cake made by Grandma (and who allowed her to lick the yummy chocolate spoon!). She still talks about this and says that she wants one next year, too.

Mommy and Daddy brought cupcakes to Vi's classroom on her birthday. She put on her "everyone look at me / modest" face when they sang Happy Birthday to her. It was cute.

Happy Birthday to our silly 3 year-old Vi!

Blah to Bam! Vi's room make-over

Since Vi is going through a transformation of her own from little baby to big girl, we decided it was time for her room to see some changes as well. This room was pretty blah when we moved in the new house with tan carpet and tan walls, and when I purchased the tan curtains.... it definitely looked like a big tan blob - but we had plans in mind!

We had originally painted and re-purposed the entire dresser and shelves, and then realized that the drawers were warped and would not work. So..... I used burlap to create a front cover and bought some hardware that matched the hardware on the curtain rods for the extra drawer placed on top of the original dresser. Using the burlap to cover the front allowed us to still use the shelving on the inside of the dresser.

The biggest change is the wall color - PINK it is for our princess!

I made the French Memory Board for some of Vi's creations from an old canvas wrapped in burlap. Just to give it a "gallery" feel, I also framed some mini postcards of the Degas dancers.

Paw's old bed gets a coat of white paint, too! We do not have a large budget for extras, so we definitely re-purposed as much as possible, and it has all turned out beautifully and just the right size for Vi!

We will eventually purchase this wall decal and finish our girly/outdoor/Luxembourg Gardens theme in Vi's room. I'm hoping this will make her want to sleep in there, instead of in Mommy and Daddy's room.

The Ice Cream Truck

I have to tell a funny story on Vi!

We heard the ice cream truck in the neighborhood, so I quickly grabbed my wallet and ran outside. It was love at first sight when Vi saw the SpongeBob Squarepants ice cream bar.

Justin Beiber clearly likes them, too!

Anyways, in the middle of the night, Vi hops up in the bed and says, "Mommy, I hear the ice cream truck!" She of course was dreaming and immediately fell back over into a deep sleep. That must have been the best treat of her life!

Gaining my independence

Our first real family dinner to celebrate the 4th of July in the new house. Delicious!

Grandma wasn't scared to get wet in the sprinkler with me

You can tell I had way too much fun before it was even time to eat

Dollywood or bust!

I am glad that my friend Cadden got to spend the day with my during my very first big girl trip to Dollywood.

My Daddy and I are the coolest duo in this theme park.

Mommy hasn't ridden the steam engine train since she was little. We had suit all over us! But it was worth it to hear the whistle.

Our final DESTINation before moving home for good!

After the chaos of the tornadoes that hit near our homes in both TN and AL (we were so thankful to have not been severely affected!), we headed off to Destin, Florida, for a little rest and relaxation. I wasted no time doing this, as you can see.

We stayed right on the harbor (background), and I loved looking at all of the fish, hermit crabs, restaurants and shops.

Thanks Paw and Mamaw for arranging our trip! The beaches were beautiful, as always.

A photo with my Mommy and Daddy

Just had to give a throwback to my very first trip to Destin at around 7 weeks old. So tiny!

First Egg Hunt of the Season!

We had a great time at the Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn of the President's Mansion at Mommy's School. I was more interested in what was in the eggs rather than the amount of eggs, quality over quantity people!

I got some really good stuff!!!!!!!!!!!
Daddy's little Easter princess

In other news, I am enjoying working in the yard at the new house. Playing in dirt is fun. It takes a true southern girl to do yard work in ribbons and a skirt.
